Join us and our guest Phillip Smith, who is the Supervisor, Physical Plant, at the UC Davis Marine Lab who will provide his inputs based on last fire season’s actions, where he ran the back-up power systems for the lab, by day and then his home backup power systems, in the evenings and overnight. As a resident of Bodega Bay, Phillip knows well the challenges we all experience.
The UC Davis backup generators are large diesel units and can keep their entire operation powered for over a week, including all the pumps that maintain the experimental tanks, etc. His home system is a generator without the automatic start, which was able to keep his refrigerators and wine keepers going, as well as the satellite TV system and house lights.
The meeting will include a demonstration of what to do when downed power lines are encountered.
